CiX - Internet Portals

Overview

The CiX Internet-based Securities trading platform is designed to support the operation of Internet-based financial Portals in real-time.

Portals are Web sites that publish data from a number of different sources. Financial portals collect and aggregate information from many Financial Markets participants in a single place.

As the number of Internet trading sites grows, the use of Portals to collect data from many market participants into a single place will become more important

Publishing Data from CiX

CiX includes COM objects, specifically designed for participating in Portals.

Clients using CiX can easily publish data to Portals using the inbuilt COM objects. HTML and any server-based scripting language, such as Java Script or VB Script, can be used to publish data using these COM objects. Where a CiX client participates in more than one Portal, either a single set of HTML pages could be used for all Portals, or each Portal could have it's own specific HTML pages.

COM is the Microsoft Component Object Model and is a common method of building business logic into Web servers. The CiX COM object run as an extension to the Web server.

CiX may be configured so that all, or only a sub-set, of the Portfolios of traded-instruments are published to each of the Portals. For instance, Australian Government Bonds may be published to one Portal, and Corporate Bonds to another Portal. A third Portal may include both types of Bonds.

The CiX database and business logic supports multiple pricing and margins for different client and classes of clients. When data is published from CiX to a Portal, specific prices, margins and spreads may be configured for that Portal.

Multi-contributor support in CiX

Where CiX is run as a multi-contributor trading site, each contributor is configured as an internal "Unit" or Division. Each Unit may have it's own pricing/margin structures and credit limits.

This flexibility may be used to operate different sales channels Eg. Retail and Wholesale, as well as support the use of "Introductory" brokers who may sell financial products through the trading web site.

Branding

It is possible for each contributor to a CiX trading web site to maintain their own branding. This is done be creating for each contributor either a separate:

  • Sub-domains Eg. Broker1.CixClient.com,  Broker2.CixClient.com, Broker3.CixClient.com etc or
  • Virtual Directories Eg. www,CixClient.com/Broker1, www,CixClient.com/Broker2, www,CixClient.com/Broker3 etc.

Using either of the above configurations each participant would be able to support their own customised set of HTML and logos. CiX makes extensive use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to make the management of branding easier and more consistent.

Order Routing and Management

The CAPIX Order Routing Engine (CORE) is a FIX-protocol order routing system for the financial markets.

CORE is sold separately to CiX, although the two products may be run together and integrate seamlessly.

The CORE product is typically used to route orders from a CiX site to an exchange traded market, although it may also be used to route orders between market participants.
